Cook/Dining Room Aide

Do you have large batch, quantity or commercial cooking experience?   

If so, The Adrian Dominican Sisters are accepting applications for a Full Time Cook/Dining Room Aide for their Motherhouse Campus in Adrian, MI.  

In this role you will be responsible for: Serving large batch meals to employees, Sisters and guests in several buffet and service style dining room locations across campus. You will work as a team with dining room aides to clean dining rooms and dishes after meals. You will fill in for the Cook when needed and prepare meals as determined by the day's menu.

Pay: 12.01/hr.


Day shift 5:30am 2:00pm/Evening shift 10:30am 7pm. Weekends and holidays as needed. 80 hours per 2 week pay period.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for opening or closing the department.
  • Responsible for checking and recording temperatures of all freezers and refrigeration.
  • Responsible for buffet or service style breakfast, lunch or dinner preparation according to the posted daily menu and production sheets, while making use of any leftover items and following standardized recipes.
  • Responsible for break-down, labeling and storage of any leftovers from the meal period.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper quantity of food available as requested by dining room aide.
  • Directs food service co-workers in the absence of Department Director and Supervisors.
  • Assists other food service staff, residents and guests and performs dining room aide duties as needed.
  • Responds appropriately to safety hazards and/or emergencies. Practices good safety and health habits while performing duties.
  • Responsible for knowing the menu for the meal period and what items are available as back up.
  • Responsible for following the cleaning schedules for the kitchen and related areas.
  • Presents a welcoming environment by greeting and providing hospitality to all guests.


Education:  A High School Diploma or GED is required. 

Experience: 1-2 years cooking experience required; experience cooking in healthcare environment or commercial kitchen preferred.

Physical:  Must be able to sit, stand, and walk up to 8-hours per day.  Must be able to frequently stoop, bend, reach, and carry approximately 35 pounds.  Must be sighted and capable of hearing.
